I want a iPhone super bad. My parents say I can get a phone for high school (next year). Do you think that the iphone will drop its price because i know my parents wont be dishing out 600 dollars for a phone. And this poll is for a 8 gig, now 600 dollars
Take in mind that the shuffle (old) was first 150 and ended up being 80
I think once more carriers pick it up the price will drop because they'll have to compete. But as long as Cingular has a monopoly on it, they have no reason to drop the price as long as people will pay it.
I think that model will go to $500; Apple will (most likely) relase an even better model by next year so the price will still be high, just not 600.
The way Apple normally works with these things is they do 1 to 3 rounds at the same price points, only the features get better. So it is possible in a year the entry $499 iPhone could be a
8GB model. Then for $100 more you could have 16GB's, they always find a way to sucker you in!! AT&T has them exclusive for 5 years, no competition... They sold 500-700,000 the first
weekend released, I don't see them having any reason to drop the price any time soon 
What I
could see is maybe an iPhone lite, less features maybe just a phone, texting and iPod? I could see a market for that.

I am sure it will probably drop. They will come out with something even better on it so they can drop the price on that one and have another rage on the new product. That's how it usually work. That's how they make their money on all the video games for kids.
I think it will drop but not much. They may have a special at one point for it too! Good luck and if you get one you must show us!
